Changi General Hospital
Singapore
What began as a simple project to incorporate new technology in Wards 26 and 27, snowballed when we learnt that there were problems moving patients in and out of rooms in an emergency. We worked through the problems and devised a way of opening the throat to the rooms by splaying the room door and the bathroom wall and rounding off the corners into rooms which in itself became an aesthetic statement. The introduction of healthcare grade woven floor coverings to corridors was well received, improving privacy levels, traction and underfoot comfort.
